The idea

This pneumatic gripper is based on the model of a flower that opens and closes.

The objective

By filling the gripper with air, it can gently grasp various objects.

Operating principle

The fingers of the Historical Gripper consist of cushions that are designed as dynamic surfaces and are configured around a centre. The weld seams form defined fold lines in accordance with a specified pattern. Control by means of compressed air enables a gentle, delicate gripping process.

Pioneer

The first pneumatic gripper paved the way for a new era of adaptable gripper applications. It was flexible, had no joints and could be inexpensively manufactured.
