The idea

This learning platform is based on the principle of modularisation in nature.

The objective

Molecubes enable learning by experimentation and programming.

Technical data

  • Edge length: 66 mm
  • Weight: 200 g
  • Torque: 4.85 Nm
  • Angle of rotation: infinitely variable
  • Speed of rotation: max. 17/min

Operating principle

The Molecubes constitute a potential learning environment in which learning by doing is combined with the opportunities offered by modular software and robot technology.

Structure

The basic geometric shape of the system is a cube, to which the individual Molecubes can be docked on six sides like molecules in a chemical compound. By connecting several modules in sequence, numerous movement variations can be achieved for the overall system. Molecubes with grippers, cameras or drive axes can be used as end modules.

Programming

Whenever a new module is docked, a new configuration is created that is communicated to all Molecubes in the overall system via wireless transmission. The learning platform can be programmed in four different ways.
